As part of the Urban Forestry Grant the park department received, a two acre area was to be planted with a total of 400 Indiana native trees. Instead the area was increased to 4 acres and a total 1000 new Indiana native trees (26 different species) were planted at MacGregor Park. A donation by Arbor Terra Consulting of 150 trees helped to make this possible. These plantings are part of a Hoosier Heartland project "Plant A Million". This is an inititive to increase urban forestry in the the 10 central Indiana counties.
